01 · Generator

A QR code generator built for the print run — and everything after.

Generate QR codes in seconds, then swap the destination without reprinting. Track every scan by country, device, browser, and referrer.

Static or dynamic

Both, on one editor

Static codes encode the URL directly. Dynamic codes route through your short link so you can repoint them any time.

Styled

Custom colors, shapes, and a logo slot

Three module shapes, custom fg/bg colors, and a center image slot for your logo. Export PNG or SVG.

Analytics

Every scan, timestamped

Country, device, OS, browser, referrer. Filter by date range. Export CSV on Business.

Workflow

The dynamic QR management workflow, end to end

Generating the image is step one of six. This is how teams run a dynamic QR code from brief to retirement without a reprint.

  1. 1

    Brief and naming

Agree the code's purpose and give it a name your whole team will recognise six months later — channel, campaign, placement and date, e.g. 'Retail · Spring Menu · Window Decal · Mar'. Naming is what turns a code library into something searchable.

  2. 2

    Generate as dynamic

Create the code as dynamic so the printed image is permanent but the destination is not. Add UTM parameters on the destination, never inside the QR image itself, so you can retag later without touching print.

  3. 3

    Style from the shared preset

Apply the workspace brand preset rather than hand-picking colours per code. One preset means every code across the team scans reliably and looks like it came from the same company.

  4. 4

    Review and approve

Have a second person scan the proof on both iOS and Android at the real distance, then check the destination renders on mobile. Approval before print is the cheapest QA you will ever run.

  5. 5

    Publish and monitor

Once live, watch the first 48 hours of scan data. A flat line usually means placement, not the code; a spike from an unexpected country usually means the asset travelled further than planned.

  6. 6

    Repoint or retire

When the campaign ends, repoint the code to an evergreen page instead of letting it 404. Archive the code in the library with its final scan totals so next year's team inherits the numbers.

Best practices

Best practices teams learn the hard way

Patterns we see across the teams managing the largest code libraries on QR Lift.

Dynamic by default

Reserve static codes for the rare case where nothing can ever change. Every static code printed at scale is a future reprint bill.

One owner per code

Roles decide who can repoint a live code. Nominate an owner per campaign so a destination change is always a deliberate act, not a surprise.

Never reuse a retired code

Repointing an old campaign code at a new campaign corrupts your analytics and confuses anyone still holding the old print. Create a new code.

Audit quarterly

Walk the library once a quarter: dead destinations, codes with zero scans, and duplicates. Fifteen minutes prevents a broken code on a printed asset.

Frequently asked

Is the QR code generator really free?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 active codes, unlimited static QRs, basic 7-day analytics, and PNG downloads.

Do the QR codes expire?

Never. Static codes work forever. Dynamic codes stay live as long as your account is active.

Can I use the QR codes commercially?

Yes, on every plan — including free.

Ready to try it?

Free plan includes 3 dynamic codes. No credit card required.
